How the ledger classifies an assumption

Current

Evidence is within its review interval, sufficiently direct, owned, and unaffected by a material change or contradiction.

Aging

Evidence has passed 75 percent of its review interval. It may still be usable, but revalidation must be scheduled.

Exposed

Evidence is overdue, weak, undated, unowned, or affected by material change.

Expired

The assumption is contradicted, has no supporting evidence, or is overdue and still lacks an owner.

This tool structures a management judgment. It does not verify the evidence, certify a strategy, or replace qualified research, legal, financial, security, or governance review.

About Reality Audit

An assumption register built for decisions, not documentation.

A strategic assumption is a belief that must be true for a decision, forecast, investment, or narrative to hold. The danger is rarely that a team has assumptions. The danger is that evidence expires while the assumption remains embedded in plans, budgets, and board language.

Reality Audit makes the review interval explicit. It also distinguishes missing evidence, weak evidence, contradiction, ownership failure, and material change. The output is a pressure queue that tells the team which belief to test first and why.

When should you use it?

Use it before a major strategy shift, budget decision, fundraise, category move, board presentation, or forecast reset. It is also useful after consecutive misses or when leadership teams explain the same market in incompatible ways.

What should not be entered?

Do not enter client names, personal information, privileged communications, contract terms, confidential source documents, or regulated data. Phrase the assumption at the decision level and keep supporting files in the approved system your organization already uses.

Questions about Reality Audit

What do I leave with?

A versioned assumption ledger, pressure queue, evidence action, owner, and review date. CSV, JSON, copy, print, and Workshop Pre-Read outputs are ungated.

Does the tool verify my evidence?

No. It classifies the evidence record you enter and explains the result. It does not inspect a source document, certify a strategy, or compare you with other customers.

Where is my strategic information processed?

The ledger runs in your browser. Local save is optional, export is under your control, and Clear removes the saved browser copy.

What are the Story and Spreadsheet and Dissent modes?

Story and Spreadsheet separates facts, interpretations, forecasts, preferences, and human context before a consequential decision. Dissent Protocol maps affected, expert, authority, and absent groups, then requires a documented response to each concern. Both modes run inside Reality Audit and can create evidence or assumption records without adding another diagnostic score.

Is Dissent Protocol anonymous?

No. It supports private pre-work and neutral concern IDs on this device, but confidentiality depends on the facilitator and the organization. It is not a reporting channel.
